Always admired their shape but the best part is seeing them fly and the fantastic noise the merlin engine makes. |

I have never heard a real merlin but I have heard the packard made copies that the US used - wow. With those war machines they didn't worry about noise. |

Spitfire on the ground is Mk XVI? I heard Packard Merlin of P-51D. It was loud but clear & comfortable for me ...by the way, the motorcycle is Matchless G3L (1941- by front fork) http://www.freewebs.com/thenormandyarnhemsociety/bike%20002.jpg |
