Yes, it's YYS 174, a Duple Vista-bodied Bedford C5 Z1 new to MacBraynes as their 54 in May 1960. Upon MacBraynes' withdrawal from bus operation in 1970, it found a new home with Western SMT where it was allocated to Ardrishaig depot for several years before being transferred to Kilmarnock and, after being used in the filming of Take the High Road with STV, put into storage at Cumnock. When Western became part of the Stagecoach empire, the coach was transferred to Arran, where it operated the tourist service from Brodick pier to Brodick Castle. However, it was soon found to be unsuitable and was sold into preservation at the Glasgow Vintage Vehicle Trust. -- Last edit: 2016-01-09 23:15:56 |
