I consider these Typ 1s to be minefields ... but I assume I got the main one right - while the others are in the 1964-67 range? |

Thanks. How do you tell the difference between the small pre-1964 side windows contra the bigger 1965+ ones? They all look the same to me. |

They all do - at first. 1965+ have less space between glass and side trim (the vertical part below window is lower) and slightly closer to the rain gutter. The doors are easily recognizable when the vent window/quarterlight is visible, the post became tilted rearward. The front view is similar to before but slightly larger - most views show less 'roof' above windscreen. Curved, but so little you wouldn't know from pictures. Also the wipers were larger and their mounts shifted to the right (no longer symmetrical), now parking to the left. For the rear view the window is higher and closer to the rain gutters, also wider compared to the engine intake below. Further changes for the 1973-75(79 for cabs) 1303 and all 1972+ (4cm taller rear window, all German cars) Hopefully a little easier now? 🔎 Edit: Correcting auto-correct -- Last edit: 2016-07-07 16:36:56 |
