It is not exactly identical to the Matchbox model![]() which probably is a Guy Vixen or Wolf, fairly similar but again not identical to this one, a 1960 Guy Vixen: ![]() This one here looks as if it has a coachwork cabin. Quite unusual for the time is that no wings are attached but the cabin uses the full vehicle width. The base vehicle (chassis, engine, etc.) might be a Guy Wolf, Otter or Vixen, but could also be a Thornycroft Swiftsure or an Albion. Even something rare like a Proctor is possible. All these types have their front axle forward mounted. Probably the truck hasen't made it into preservation. And the address, 24 Stoke Lane, Westbury on Trym, Bristol, BS9 3DN, didn't help either. ![]() |

As it's not built from a chassis and cab, the complete body includes the cab which probably was a design specific to the body maker. Therefore nothing of the chassis maker I think is visible. Unlikely to be able to identify it from only a side view. |

Pantechnicon isn't the model name but a body type. |

![]() ![]() I telephoned E.W Gardner (Bristol) hauliers, but they explained they did not exist in 1960's. So if we can't determine the vehicle maybe it should be deleted. |

No, as long as a car has a role in the movie and is visible (i.e. potentially identifiable, e.g. not only interior shot) it should be listed, even if not identifiable right now. Maybe that it six months or one year someone will be able to do it ![]() -- Last edit: 2007-04-09 23:44:47 |

that's good, as it would be a shame to delete it Someone must be able to recognise the axles/wheel-pressings? |

Hi my grandpa drove a similar truck in the 60's he says it could be a seddon like his. |

I've seen this motor featured in one of the lorry mags, I think. If it's the one I think it is, it's a lightweight Albion |

Have you still got the mag? |

Probably, but..... might be some time before I find it! |

Is this a Proctor, like this one: http://ccmv.fotopic.net/p34457874.html |
◊ 2007-05-17 19:35 |
What makes you think it is a Proctor? As I said above this is one of the makes that could have been used. But Proctor is probably least likely, due to the small numbers built. |

Side windows, flat front. Just a hunch |
