I'd say it's in the 1965-66 year range? |

Looks plausible to me |

I'd say Super Beetle for wraparound windshield. |

Yuck, a 1965 Super Beetle never existed.... The 'wraparound' is an illusion, it just looks larger with no window or doors fitted. The viewing angle can sometimes make it hard to decide. A few items differ from the 1973-75 Super Beetle: The area between front lid and windscreen (the upper cowl area) is missing - the later Super Beetle had a short front lid. Here you can also see the wiper arm holes - they are to the right (wipers pointing towards the lefthand side) while the wraparound Super Beetle (LHD) is the other way around. More obviously, further up front, we see no MacPherson struts, a narrow lid opening and a pre-1967 (US/Canada) headlamp. A 1965 for reference -- Last edit: 2017-07-29 02:53:48 |

It was listed as made for Canada, in IMDB it seems like Canadian location. A choice of VW 1200 Custom or VW 1200 Deluxe in Canada for 1965, a 1966 would be VW Custom 1200 or VW Deluxe 1300 (In the 1966 brochure they use both 1300 Deluxe and Deluxe 1300, and to confuse even more, they use both 1300 and Deluxe for short. All in one single brochure. But to match the Custom 1200, that one seems to be more clear, Deluxe 1300 should be chosen for 1966. BTW, would Custom 1200 and Deluxe 1300 as model/trim level be the better listing choice? There are already a few listed as Custom without the 1200, that would also work) -- Last edit: 2017-07-29 09:24:51 |
