Technically it's not possible for a vehicle not to be manufactured by a factory or individual and therefore be labeled with a manufacturer's name. If there were several factories who made this model we use the 'by default' scheme as per the comments here: /vehicle_1199059-IMZ-M-72.html and I can't figure out the reason why you disagree with this policy.
the sad biker ◊ 2019-05-24 16:44	The M72 is often referred to as "Ural" or "Dnepr". This is not correct as these names are model names, like "Camaro" or "Corolla", and they were first used after the M72 ended production in Russia. The correct name is simply M72. If needed use the prefix IMZ for Irbit produced models and KMZ for Kiev produced models.

That's the name of the factory it was built in, not a manufacturers name, the point is there was no manufacturers name, that would be like saying someone drove a Wolfsburg Golf, Dagenham Cortina or Iwata XS650? M-72's were built very briefly in Moscow during 1941 prior to the Nazi invasion (MMZ factory, 1753 units in total), the factory was evacuated east and in this period, a small unkown number were assembled at Gorky (GMZ) from MMZ manufactured parts. From November 1941, work started on the Irbit (IMZ) factory and production commenced in 1942 with the 1st batch delivered in October. Kiev production (KMZ) commenced in 1952. If we are to use a default, it should be to MMZ, even though Moscow built probably <1% of the total. The Ural and Dnepr names didn't come about until much later (possibly the 1960's). -- Last edit: 2019-05-24 20:06:12

You are listing factories and locations that belong to certain manufacturers here. GAZ brand also bears the name of a factory, so does ZAZ and VAZ and we list them like that.
