The Viva could be about six years old by now, well past its best. I thought soggy cardboard was the recognised material? I guess the AC wax thermostat is stuck open, the wipers may also have stopped unless by pure chance the pics were taken at the same part of the cycle? edit: I'm pleased to report the wipers were working However the the bad news is the door sills are or were rusted through, as a result the full length chromed 'spears' have gone and black rubberised paint or sealant applied in their place. -- Last edit: 2020-05-19 17:15:49 |

Having owned a slightly later (P) Viva, I would have thought that “well past its best“ was about five years earlier, say about eighteen months old. That era of Vauxhall was always let down by the subsidiary systems, as Sunbar mentioned, the major items were quite robust, but not the rest. I have to add, fair play to Vauxhall, the 1989 Astra and the ‘92 Cavalier I had later were much improved cars. The Cav did well over 100k miles without major fault. -- Last edit: 2020-05-19 14:28:57 |
