It's actually a DB4GT. In slow motion a standard DB4 (without cowled headlamps) is seen shooting over the bridge. Matt Hurley |

I'm tempted to say that this is a DB5. |

DB4 Series V and DB5 have the same body. Some stuff can differentiate both models, but they are located inside the car. Based on the air opening of the bonnet, I would say it's indeed a DB4 GT (http://news.caradisiac.com/IMG/jpg/Aston-Martin-DB4-GT-4.jpg). To be confirmed by peers -- Last edit: 2006-09-25 10:13:57 |

I'm no expert but from the rear views shown on AstonMartins.com, the cars are different for the rear-lights (separate for the DB5 and combined as in the movie for the DB4GT) plus a different number plate light housing and the addition of a badge for the DB5.... -- Last edit: 2006-09-25 11:30:20 |

It's not a DB5 : a) DB5 didn't come out till 1963(film was shot in 1961) b) The DB5 had front bumper over riders, the DB4GT didn't It's a DB4GT Also I've seen that car for sale "41 DPX" , came up at auction a few years ago , advertised as a DB4GT from the film :-) Matt |

I wouldn't be surprised if it was one of Peter Sellers' own cars. He was well known for being a car 'nut', changing them almost as often as he changed wives.... |

Is this one the DB5 or another view of the DB4? (picture from Uri) In first case it could replace the main one, which has a bad ratio -- Last edit: 2007-08-02 22:31:38 |

It's the same DB4 GT. |

Why did I type DB5? I wanted to mean the DB4 GT Well, I 'll rather keep it in comments and resize propertly the current main one. |

Perhaps it was because they are very similar at first glance. These type of headlights and a one-piece bumper make immediately think of a DB5. |

According to HPI, 41DPX is a 1961 car. |

Chassis DB4GT/0157/R - http://astonuts.free.fr/PAGES/DP207E.html . Blew its engine during filming so /vehicle_55219-Aston-Martin-DB4-1960.html filled in for final shoots. |

Following the above, I reviewed the complete chase scene at the end of the film and there appears to be three Aston Martins used (the cars switch back and forward so not filmed in sequence). 1) The jump scene uses an Aston with conventional headlamps - listed as a DB4 2) An Aston Martin with looks like a standard bonnet scoop is used for some of the chase scene. 3) The remainder or the chase scene uses another car (main picture above) with an enlarged bonnet scoop so likely to be the Factory development lightweight DB4GT/0167. Cars 2) and 3) compared. -- Last edit: 2017-02-26 17:26:15 |

The car which I assume is the 'standard production' car initially used for fiming '41DPX' also apparently is missing the small badge bar over the front number plate; the badge bar appears on the 'factory development car' (main picture above). |

OK - remedying my over-enthusiastic changes. (1) Agreed the jump scene on other page is a plain unknown DB4. (2) 2 DB4 GTs were apparently used and are fully contained on this page only: "DB4GT/0167/R (40 MT) - Works experimental and demonstration car. Lightweight chassis. Engine to Zagato spec. Engine 370/0206/GT fitted for nine months in 1962. Replaced DB4GT/0157/R (41 DPX) for final shots after its engine blew up during filming" - http://astonuts.free.fr/PAGES/DP207E.html "40 MT - A very special car, one of very few factory lightweight GTs ever built, Ex-works development car used for the Autosport road test in December 1961. Many unique features, a real reference car with amazing provenance, regarded as the very best DB4GT in existence" - Link to "www.tomhartleyjnr.com" . Registered Oct 61. As seen in the recent Tom Hartley ad, DB4GT/0167/R 40 MT has a low flat bonnet scoop, which suggests the real DB4GT/0157/R 41 DPX is the one onscreen with the taller rounder scoop and the badge bar - recent pictures show it still has the taller rounder scoop - eg Link to "www.supercars.net" |

No problem dsl - I had some fun trying to spot the different cars in the blurred images during the chase anyway! |
