Haven't looked it up but does the Unic have the bracing rods on the diff? |

http://www.svvs.org/genpics11/1911_Unic_Taxi.jpg Good enough? Or is the attribution wrong? The radiator looks different but I do not recognise it for sure. Maybe Napier Fifteen. I think the "bracing rods" may be brake linkage. -- Last edit: 2016-01-27 17:45:18 |

Compare your LE 4897 with this Unic LE 4905..... |

I think both LE-plate cars have same grille and blind above windscreen so - if correct - both need changed?? But I'm not sure they look the same as this 1910 Napier picture found by Sunbar here |

... jumps in and opens discussion (I had agreed until now but thinking again and looking harder at the picture assuming it might not be a Unic). I believe it could be a 1923 Beardmore Super Taxi MkII Note the extra glass behind the passenger doors - I've not seen those on Unic taxis or most others - The Beardmore was I think referred to as the Rolls-Royce of taxis? Link to "www.google.co.uk" Rear views of Beardmore - source: /vehicle_741860-Beardmore-Super-Taxi-1927.html ... and not Napier I think, the proportions look wrong to me (so not decisive just opinion) also the grille is different at the bottom for your secondary query (LE 4905) which is a Unic... -- Last edit: 2016-01-27 20:12:26 |
